To help you reduce your holiday waste, we have put together a list of low-impact and eco-conscious tips.
TIP #1: ASK THE QUESTION!
As unsentimental as it may sound, the easiest way to make sure your gifts don't end up in the landfill (or in the back of the closet) is to ask your friends & family what they would like to receive. This way, everyone will be happy (including our planet)
TIP #2: GIFT PLANTS OR OFFER TO HELP WITH A HERB-GARDEN
Who wouldn't like some greenery at home? Gift ever-green plants or if you're a gifted gardener, offer to help set up a vegetable or herb-garden for your loved ones.TIP #3: BAKE SOMETHING
Nothing says Christmas louder than a batch of freshly baked gingerbread cookies (or any Christmas dessert for that matter). Just make sure to ask about any dietary restrictions or allergies.
TIP #4: HELP THEM BE MORE ECO-FRIENDLY
If you have inspired your friends & family to start their own sustainability journey, there are lots of gifts out there that will help. As a starter kit, you can gift a reusable water bottle, shopping bags, or metal straws. These are all easy and eco-friendly alternatives to everyday items. Check out The Botanist & their home accessories section for lots of cool home-care gifting ideas.
TIP #5: DONATE
The festive season is the perfect time to help people in need. You can pool together the money that you and your family were planning to spend on gifts this year and donate it to the Charity of your choice.
